Bryan and co-authors publish the Minderoo-Monaco Commission on Plastics and Human Health

Led by Philip J. Landrigan and Sarah Dunlop, Bryan, other WHOI scientists (Mark E. Hahn, John J. Stegeman, and Jordan A. Pitt), and many other physicians and scientists from around the globe published the Minderoo-Monaco Commission on Plastics and Human Health in the Annals of Global Health as charged by the Minderoo Foundation, the Centre Scientifique de Monaco, and the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation.

Our report concludes, "It is now clear that current patterns of plastic production, use, and disposal are not sustainable and are responsible for significant harms to human health, the environment, and the economy as well as for deep societal injustices... Global intervention against the plastic crisis is needed now because the costs of failure to act will be immense."
